Aristokratia

Akin to the Ancien Régime, an organization run as though dictated by backroom privilege, will soon bear the hallmarks of an aristocracy in decline: excess, arrogance, cocksureness, moral infirmity … all while the plaster peels and the window glass droops. And soon, position may be distinctly perceived as heritable through associations of questionable merit, or as an effect of casual blackmail: the interests of the business itself become secondary to the machinery dedicated to ensuring the maneuverability of one’s employees. This is the organization that has discovered sport in old-growth forests; it razes what is stately, stolid and hearty, planting instead what is weak, pliant and prone.
